KID CUDI BIO (Ref: http://www.imeem.com/kidcudi)
"I always knew I was different," says 23 year-old MC and songwriter Kid Cudi. "I just embraced it instead of wondering what people would think." For the past three years, this Cleveland, Ohio native (born Scott Mescudi) has been holed up in a Brooklyn studio turning his worldview into a musical signature, mixing clever, melodic flows with indelible hooks that owe as much to alternative rock records as hip-hop classics.
Kid Cudi's unique approach earned him a dedicated grassroots MySpace following, and caught the attention of Plain Pat, who became his manager and mentor. Pat used his experience working on all three of Kanye West's albums to help Cudi start his career. Soon after, the red-hot Fool's Gold label signed him to their family of rap iconoclasts (including Kid Sister and DJ A-Trak) and included him as a special guest on their sold-out North American tour. Since then, Kid Cudi has rocked crowds at NYC nightclubs like SOBs and Hiro Ballroom, and been featured in ad campaigns for cutting edge streetwear labels 10 Deep and Lemar & Dauley.
With some of the industry's most respected tastemakers already on board, Kid Cudi's debut single "Day 'N' Nite" is the perfect showcase to launch his style and sound to the rest of the world. Over a hypnotic, banging instrumental from producer Dot Da Genius, Cudi spits a lament for the "lonely stoner" and invites everyone to empathize with his heartfelt delivery. "If you like my music, it's not gonna be because of some witty line I said or me being political," explains Cudi. "It's gonna be because you connect with me as a person, and you relate to my story - putting yourself in my SB Dunks, you feel me?"
Kid Cudi's forthcoming LP, Man on the Moon, more than fulfils the musical promise of "Day 'N' Nite," hitting listeners with everything from the unconventional swagger of "Awesomely Dope" to the moody, Emile-produced anthem "Bigger Than You" to the dreamy, uptempo club track "Superboo." Most importantly, the disc offers an introspective look into the mind of one of music's freshest and most creative new voices.
